Review, Swatches and Price of Lakme Lip Love Lip Care Lip Balm in Cherry
By Contributor: Aruna
The market seems to be filled up with lip balms all of a sudden now that winter has finally approached us and Lakme has jumped onto the bandwagon. They have released a new range of affordable lip care lip balms called the Lakme Lip Love in 4 different shades: Cherry, Strawberry, Vanilla and Peach. and I will review and swatch the red shade or flavour called Cherry today.
Lakme Claims: Say hello to Lakme’s newest offering, Lip Love Lip Care – a range of dual core lip balms, the first of its kind in India. Available in 4 flavours – Cherry, Strawberry, Peach and Vanilla. Lip Love is ‘a little tint with lots of love’. Keep those lips moisturized and protected with a winning combination of a luscious creamy core along with a hint of tint and SPF 15. Lakme’s Lip Love tinted sticks are here to make sure you enjoy the best of both worlds!
The lip balm comes packaged in a twist up tube that matches the color of the balm (so convenient!) The lid is made of transparent plastic which feels a bit delicate to me and I have a niggling feeling that it will crack if I were to drop it.
The texture of the lip balm is thick and comforting on the lips. The moment I apply it, I am able to feel that there is some substantial amount of work being done by it. It certainly does what it says on the pack which is ‘luxurious creamy colour which moisturises the lips’. It also has an SPF 15 which is an excellent addition. The product has a strong fruity scent to it which, personally, I am not a big fan of and it lingers for a few minutes before it disappears. The taste of it sweet but a chemical sweet (if you know what I mean) which is odd.
The intensity of the tint, however, may vary shade to shade and this where this shade excels! The shade ‘Cherry’ does justice to its name and imparts a beautiful red tint to the lips which makes the lips look plump somehow. It reminds a lot of the Nivea Fruity Shine lip balm in the shade ‘Pomegranate’ which is a bit of a deeper red. However, the colour may not be strong enough for pigmented lips. The lip balm has balmy core to it and is surrounded by colour. I tried to be a bit of a smart ass and see if the edges of the stick could give me an intense colour payoff but was completely let down! The results are the same no matter how you apply it! That being said, this is a beautiful product which imparts colour, moisture and protection.
Generally, lip balms do not last more than 3 to 4 hours on me and it is the same with this product. That being said, it is undoubtedly hydrating and moisturising as long as it stays on and does not leave the lips dry as it fades away. No heaviness can be felt on the lips upon application at all.
