So today is the day of corals, and oranges. Well did that sound weird..?? okay no, so keeping up with the whirl of the elle 18 colour boost lipsticks, I tell you these pink things look so cute and tumblry on my table. What do I say. I have the orange family from the range to talk about with you guys. Shades I will review and swatch today are Elle 18 Color Boost HYPER ORANGE (which I initially loved but not that much now) and CORAL NUDE which has been a consistent favourite of mine.
Elle 18 Claims: A blast of colour with a punch of cocoa. The intense moisturizing core in the centre protects and care for your lips.
Shades Available: Hyper Orange, Nude Coral, Red Passion, Superlicious Red, Hollywood Pink, Blonde Pink, Miss Pink
My Review of Elle 18 Hyper Orange and Coral Nude:
HYPER ORANGE: this an orangy coral with slight bit of pastel undertones to it. It is really creamy but to a point that is kind of melting. And this is one of those colours that goes on really patchy on the lips, giving out a glossy finish. Now this was one of the shades that I fell in love with instantly as I opened the cute pink bag with elle 18 color boost lipsticks. I knew that this guy was right up my ally, but boy was I in for not a very pleasant surprise.
Like the day 1 I applied, it was perfection, but as I applied it more and more, I started to feel that it started melting and getting patchy on the lips which never really has happened with me. But yes now this colour goes on really patchy, accentuating flakiness on the lips. You really have to work around it a lot to make it work. Really bad because elle 18 are you listening, ME LOVES THIS SHADE!
CORAL NUDE: this is one my other favourites among all the color boost lipsticks shades. As the name suggests that it is a nude colour with warm peachy coral undertones which goes on sheer, so need up to 3-4 swipes to show up fully opaque on the lips. Can be a good budget nude for Indian girls with nc35 range of complexion. Gives a slightly glossy finish.
This little guy doesn’t bleed or settle into the fine lines and is really beautiful shade even on a little darker Indian skin tones. As its sheer, it is really easy to work with. It doesn’t accentuate any flakiness on the lips nor does it bleed, but as it is so emollient it does transfer on to cups or clothes. Stays for about 2 hours approx.
Pros of Elle 18 Color Boost Lipsticks Hyper Orange, Coral Nude:
- Really really inexpensive, like waaat! 150 only, in fact on some online sites I did see it for just a 100 bucks.
- Really good pigmentation for the price we pay
- A really wide range of colour selections, great options for every complexion
- Doesn’t really dry out my lips as a few other drugstore lipsticks do
- Cute looking hot pink packaging
- A great option for college girls, or teens starting on makeup
- Has a cocoa butter core to it (though I don’t find it that hydrating enough)
- Red passion has a good lasting power.
Cons of Elle 18 Color Boost Lipsticks Hyper Orange, Coral Nude:
- Flimsy and non reliable packaging, one of my bullets broke during transit.
- The lipsticks are too soft and tend to break easily.

Overall: I would say that even tough some of the colours do end up a little patchy on the lips, with the price point, the colour variety and pigmentation that we are getting is very good. It is that apt thing for college girls or some school tweenies, who want to sneak a little bit into makeup. It has a coca butter core, which claims to nourish. I do feel that these lipsticks don’t really dry out my lips as such but nor does It hydrate them really.
