Bourjois Shine Edition Lipstick in 1,2,3 Soleil Review, Swatches
By Contributor: Agnirupa Acharyya
Bitten by the Bourjois bug big time!! I still can’t believe I am putting aside my MAC studiofix fluid and reaching out to the glowing yet light liquid Bourjois healthymix radiance reveal foundation! But anyway today our star is a Bourjois lipstick named 1,2,3 Soleil I picked up on my Europe holiday from their Shine edition range..all the shades from which I swatched and instantly loved! The packaging was soo flirty and fun and so were the pretty unusual names! I pounced on 2 of them and brought them back. Though as soon as I landed here, I heard they were launched here too!! So it’s a win-win situation (now I can get all the shades!). I am here to review and swatch Bourjois Shine Edition Lipstick 1,2,3 soleil today.
Bourjois Claims: A new generation formula that brings shine, color and comfort to your lips. An ultra-shine result, thanks to a new ¼ gloss extract for amazing shine-wrapped colour. The new sensuous formula gives ultimate comfort. Enriched with nourishing mango butter extracts, Shine Edition leaves lips moisturized for up to 10 hrs**. Its rich and melting formula provides cushion comfort and makes application addictive! And the icing on the cake…It’s shiny, colored packaging makes Shine Edition lipstick a true fashion accessory.
Shades available:- 1,2,3 soleil, rose xoxo, mauve tabloid, beige democratic, oh my doll, grenade-in, famous fuchsia and rouge making of.
The color 1,2,3 Soleil is a proper orangey coral which gives my lips a flushed juicy coral pout without being too OTT owing to its lovely finish. It creates just the right balance of orange and coral color hence making the shade 1 of the most in-demand shades. The pigmentation is quite good and can be easily built up without settling in fine lines of lips or appearing cakey. It gives a glossy and juicy pout sans any shimmer/glitter!
The texture is simply lovely- very light, smooth and easy to apply and applies in a semi-sheer finish which can be built up to 2-3 swipes to conceal lip pigmentation properly.
The lasting power is very good in spite of its light glossy finish and survives light snacks through 4-5 hours, then persists as a muted coral stain which looks very natural. A faint fruity fragrance is present which vanishes within seconds of application.
I loooovvee the packaging of these Shine Edition lipsticks!! The tubes are fun and brightly colored in either coral or bright yellow or mint green. Sigghh. This one comes in a bright coral packaging and a tight cap which makes it travel friendly.

My lip swatches with 1,2,3 Soleil
The pros of Bourjois Shine Edition Lipstick 1,2,3 Soleil:
- The color 1,2,3 soleil is a pop of coral and orange in the right, wearable ratio which gives me a luscious juicy pout
- Fun, colorful, brightly colored packaging with travel friendly tight cap
- Texture is smooth, creamy, very glossy and easy to apply.
- Pigmentation is good and enough color can be built up in a couple of swipes to hide lip pigmentation
- In spite of the light and glossy texture it is quite long wearing on my lips and easily survives light snacks
- Faint fruity smell which I quite like!
The cons of the Shine Edition Lipstick:
- Priiiccceeeeeeeeeeeee. Why should anyone buy bourjois when they get MAC at the same almost price!!
- The lipstick colors don’t always match their outer tubes which makes it a pain to remember! My other lipstick which is a pinky mauve comes in a powder blue tube.
Price: Rs.955 (I am running back to you MAC!) I got these for approx Rs.800
VNA Rating: 4/5
Do I recommend? Bourjois Shine Edition Lipstick 1,2,3 Soleil is good. Its a fun juicy coral orange shade. For all its positive things- the texture, the shade range, the easy application, the lasting power, the fun packaging, I definitely do recommend the lipsticks of this newly launched shine edition range (more if you are bitten by Bourjois like me) but otherwise buying a 3gm high street brand lipstick at the same price of a high end brand with atleast 10k more colors, shades and finishes to choose from..errr..the competetion is a little awkward. No Bourjois? This range can easily be given a miss if you go for MAC sheen supreme range instead!
