Imagine soft, delicate, girly, candy floss pink … and add some tiny silver shimmer to it…what does this remind you of? Well, for me this looks like a fairy’s dress (this is what they used to make us wear in school shows, soft pink with lots of silver shimmer-glitter-gota-patti-you-name-it). However, this association has now been taken over by Bath and Body Works Paris Amour Shimmer Mist…coz it is this exact lovely shade of pure, graceful, feminine perfect pink shining with silver glitter. Now, if glitter isn’t your thing…you may want to stop reading now.

Bath and Body Works (BBW) says,

Our Shimmer Mist will leave your skin sparkling with irresistible glamour and lightly fragranced with our exclusive Paris Amour, a dreamy blend of French tulips, apple blossoms and sparkling pink champagne, inspired by a romantic stroll through the streets of Paris.

  • Top Notes: Sparkling Mandarin, Petite Strawberry, Cassis, Pink Champagne, Apple Blossom, Dewy Freesia
  • Mid Notes: Luscious Peach, Jasmine Petals, French Tulip, Water Lily, Frangipani
  • Dry Notes: French Vanilla, Coconut Milk, Amber Wood, Sandalwood, Creamy Musk

The Paris Amour fragrance was launched in 2011 and has been a very successful line for Bath and Body Works. Literally meaning “Love in Paris”, the fragrance aspires to bring to life a dreamy, romantic walk in Paris with your beloved. Featuring the symbol of romance, Eiffel Tower, with soft, romantic flares – the packaging is definitely eye candy.

There is a lot of shimmer floating in the liquid, but it is of a very fine variety – not chunky or heavy. As the shimmer particles are so    fine, light and delicate, they do not settle down at the bottom of the bottle. Hence, there is no need to shake the bottle before use. Now, coming to the actual usage itself, the pump is a normal one and the liquid squirts out of the nozzle and has to be spread a little by hand. With a little of bit of practice and holding the bottle at a bit of distance, the spray from the nozzle becomes finer but still a liquid – and hence the need to spread by hand still remains. The liquid disappears quickly, leaving you with delicate shimmer particles on the area applied. As shared earlier, the shimmer is subtle and not cheap or chunky. Also, the amount of shimmer is just right. Enough to be noticed but not overwhelming.

The fragrance is (quite clearly) romantic, delicate, feminine, upbeat and playful. It is quite sweet-fruity, with a hint of floral. The dry down has a touch of vanilla and musk, but the sweet notes also linger. Personally, the sweetness is a bit much for me – but I do know a lot of friends who love this fragrance. Not without reason is the Paris Amour range one of the best sellers from Bath and Body Works.

Coming to longevity, the shimmer fades away quite fast and lasts just over an hour. Slight traces and hints remain but 90% is gone in that time. The fragrance stays for around 2+ hours but can be made to stay longer through layering.

As explained in Chanel Chance Eau Fraiche EDT review, the concept of layering works by using multiple products in the same fragrance family / or exactly the same fragrance to make it last longer. In line with this philosophy, BBW offers the Paris Amour fragrance across an entire range of personal care products including body wash, EDT, fine fragrance mist, sugar scrub, select-a-shimmer, shower gel, body cream, bubble bath (I’ve used this and it was awesome!), body lotion, body butter and even a hand sanitizer!

What Works:

  • The fragrance is feminine, girly, flirty, playful, good for day time
  • The shimmer looks very delicate and sexy and is suitable for evenings, parties and anytime you want to be a little more dressed up
  • Both the quantity and quality of shimmer is just right
  • Cruelty free; BBW doesn’t test on animals
  • Pretty packaging!

What May Not Work:

  • Fragrance is a personal, very subjective preference
  • Patchy availability of  BBW products in India

Price: Rs. 850 (approx $14)

Will I re-purchase? This will last me a really long time, but once its over – will definitely try another shimmer mist from BBW, but in a different fragrance since I am a compulsive fragrance flirt!

VNA Rating: 4/5

So, is it for you? Best enjoyed by fruity fragrance lovers, this one will appeal to the fun, flirty, joyful girl. Complimented with subtle shimmer that makes you sparkle in that perfect way.

Editor: People I had a major “Eureka!” moment when I was searching for the Paris Amour Shimmer mist to buy online. Its available on Flipkart along with 7 other variants.

    • Fragrance is a very specific preference…what smells awesome on you might smell strange on a friend! Try and try before you buy :) I buy online a lot from BBW and do end up burning my nose and hard earned money sometimes!

  1. It has been simply incredibly generous with you to provide openly what exactly many individuals would’ve marketed for an eBook to end up making some cash for their end, primarily given that you could have tried it in the event you wanted
