By Contributor: Vidhi

Fair & Lovely doesn’t even need an introduction, we all (even men!) know the name and this fairness cream by heart. There were many gags on this brand too and they were really very funny, one was about cheeti (ant) who is fair because she uses Fair & Lovely (ha ha ha..it was funny back then, around 14 years back because I was in 2nd Grade and I knew about this brand as every girl in my family had this as her staple!) Okay so moving on, since then Fair & Lovely has changed its presentation a lot and has even introduced the Ayurvedic version of it with desi-desi (natural) name of ingredients called Fair & Lovely Ayurvedic Care which I will review today.

My recent haul of products included this one too, why because Ayurvedic is something that always attracts me. I love herbal, natural, homemade and hand made things (yes I am very down to earth kind of girl) No not because I am down to earth I choose this but because I feel assured that I am not damaging my skin with harmful chemicals (even though these products do have chemicals). So let’s get back to the review of this new Fair & Lovely Ayurvedic Care

Fair & Lovely claims: Fair & Lovely Ayurvedic Fairness Cream gives you fairer skin infused with the goodness of Kumkumadi Tailam, Fair & Lovely Ayurvedic Care has 16 ingredients which are known to- Lodhra, Khas, Neelotpal – calm and soothe skin. Manjishtha, Kesar & Padmak – Clear marks & improve complexion. Milk, Bargad, Wheat Germ Oil – Clear uneven skin tone. Result is – Clear Fairness even for sensitive skin. It gives you Natural Fairness, Balanced skin tone and Rejuvenated skin.

My Review:

It comes in an orange and white coloured paper box which has listed every essential of it from ingredients to expiry and even the Clear Fairness Meter (I don’t think this meter is of any use). The fairness cream comes in tube with twist to open cap. The ayurvedic care cream is peachy coloured and it smells herbal (I love this smell) which is not at all irritating to nose.

I have been using this cream for almost 2 weeks now and I didn’t find any difference because I currently don’t have any pimples nor I have uneven skin tone to find in difference in this regard. In case of fairness (I am already fair and don’t wish to look white) I would say NO it will not give you permanent fairness in any way, it just brightens the face after applying the cream which all the fairness creams do. It doesn’t moisturise your skin for all dry babies and gives out matte finish. This ayurvedic care cream doesn’t have SPF so before going out in sun you need to apply sunscreen. This cream will suit oily as it won’t break out your skin and won’t make your face oily easily. The part of its claims about being suitable to sensitive skin, Yes is doesn’t break out as I have mentioned but the ayurvedic contents in it (may) cause certain irritation for some people and as this cream contains parabens (which I don’t mind but may bother, some) and various other chemicals even after naming it ayurvedic won’t make it work!

Price: Rs.60 for 25g

VNA Rating: 2.9/5

Will I Repurchase: I really love the smell of this cream but I don’t find it meeting its claims other than the fact that sensitive skin people can use. If in future they add SPF then it will be better.

Is it for you: No, for Dry skin; Not suitable for Combination Skin and May be for Oily skin.

Do I Recommend: Ummm….No, unless you would love to just brighten up your face.
