In our traditional Indian weddings sister of bride or groom needs a number of dresses lined up for the N number of functions/ceremonies like engagement, mehendi, cocktail, DJ night, sangeet, wedding, reception, etc. So let’s get talking about traditional and ethnic apparel trends we certainly need to consider as our options in 2015 for Indian weddings as sister of groom or bride like sarees, dhotis, jackets, skirts, pants, gowns, etc.
It time for all the pretty bridesmaids to sing.. “… Cuz I got 10 on my left tryin to get me at the disco..20 in my right tryin to take me to a rock show..30 in the back tryin harder and the list goes on and on, goes on and on..But if you wanna get a piece of this heart of mine..Boy,stop….Get in line”
1. Evergreen Saree for Sister of Bride – Outfit for Cocktail
I guess no one can ever say Sarees are too mainstream. I agree it is if it is worn in the same clichéd way like we used to in 90s. No offence to anyone, but gone are the days when sarees full of work defined elegance. Huge earrings complimenting those beautiful plain sarees with either an elaborate border or a heavy blouse are sheer elegance.
2. Raw Silk Lehengas or Skirts – Outfit Idea for Wedding
Net lehengas are a complete yes this season. The noble charm of raw silk lehengas is just class apart. You can pair it with embroidered blouses or even crop tops to wear it to the wedding. Lehengas arent only for the brides.

Not the conventional golden bordered anarkali please. This season the proportion of the anarkalis has been divided in a way to give either half of the apparel a plain and simpler look. Jacket style with the Chudidar, Jacket style in Floor Lengths, Jacket style with Azraaras. JACKET STYLE is perfect teamed up in any which way.

I could have never imagined that my grandfather’s dhotis ever existed to become a part of fashion history, and here dhotis are, spreading joy in the Indian fashion world. (I know you definitely want one; I hope you know that too.) Makes for a good outfit for a sangeet or mehendi.
7. Straight still Fit for Sister of Bride – Idea for Mehendi
The sophistication of a straight fitting suit will never ever be subject to any variation. The sleek and slender look provided by a well fitted straight fit is impeccable. It essential to have one of these delicacies in your wardrobe for all those small functions like mehendi etc. Ideal for petite sister of grooms who feel bogged down under skirts and anarkalis.
8. Pant It All for Sister of Groom – Idea for Reception
Pants are THE thing of the season, especially those with their bottom most part worked on. The detailing at the bottom of the garment, adds to its worth. The detailing ornates the garment by adding that extra class to it.
