Review, Swatches and Price of Lakme 9 to 5 Black Impact Liner
By Contributor: Rini
Though Yo Yo Honey Singh has praised the beauty of blue eyes in his song “Blue eyes”, I have always loved black eyes. Black eyes, lined with jet black kajal and liner. However, I do not like eyeliner on my eyes. Applying it is like a once in a blue moon thing for me. While I own 15 different kajals, I have ONLY two liners in my possession. I generally, do not pay any heed to them, how much tempting they may be! Still, I found the packaging of 9 to 5 black impact liner by Lakme so cute that I just ended up buying it. I will review and swatch it today.
Lakme claims: This rich, intense black liner, makes your look l ast longer with its silky, water-resistant & fast drying formula, giving your eyes a bold and dark impact to make that lasting impression. The brush handle offers a comfortable grip so you can create dark, dramatic eyes that are a night time glam staple.
My Review:
Lakme eye liner comes in a cute, beige colored bottle with a metallic, golden cap. The cap has a thick, fat and strong brush attached for applying the liner. The packaging is nice and strong. The brush handle is strong and it is easy to have a comfortable grip (as claimed!).
My temptation for this eye liner’s look made me buy it but its quality is kind of disappointing. The brush is too fat and thick. It is difficult to draw a thin line. Forget drawing thin lines, it is even difficult to give some style to the eyes by using the brush. I am able to draw just a simple and fat line on my upper eye-lid. It is somewhat difficult to achieve the desired look. Though the brush is very smooth and convenient to use (in general sense) but its fatness destroys the entire play.
The nine to five eye liner is of watery consistency, which I do not like at all. The finish is not much smooth. Sometimes, after drying, the liner looks as if I have diluted black water color with too much water, applied to my lids and left it to dry! I need to work a bit to avoid ending up with that type of a look.
Lakme black impact eyeliner is not jet black. Though Lakme claims it to be water resistant, it is not. One fun thing to be mentioned here (from my personal experience) is if you have a wedding to attend where you are supposed to cry and you are unable to get your hands on a water-proof eyeliner, you can wear this liner instead. Since this eye liner has average pigmentation, when you cry, the liner comes off but blends perfectly into the surrounding skin without leaving black blotches on the face. It lasts 4-5 hours easily without smudging. However, it is not at all tough to remove it.
Good points about Lakme 9 to 5 Black Impact Liner:
- Cute and strong packaging.
- Good for drawing thick lines.
- Does not smudge.
- Can be removed in a jiffy.
Bad points about Lakme 9 to 5 Impact Liner:
- Pigmentation is not rich.
- The brush is thick and fat.
- Has watery consistency.
- Difficult to draw a thin line or to achieve a desired look.
Price: Rs.200 for 3.5 ml.
VNA Rating: 2.5/5
Conclusion: I expected more from Lakme. I would prefer Lakme insta liner to the black impact liner. Black impact is an average eye liner with some good and some bad features. Though I am disappointed for not being able to draw precise line, it is good for drawing bold and thick lines. We can solve this con by using a separate eye-liner brush, I think.
