Revlon ColorStay Makeup for Combination/Oily Skin Warm Golden Review
By Contributor: Apoorva
I’m finally putting my writing skills to a test and also putting my out-of control makeup addiction to some good use (other than of course using it to make myself insanely gorgeous looking!) So today I’ll be doing a review and swatch on my favourite drug store foundation that is Revlon Colorstay. This was first bought by be during a period when I was going through a revolutionary phase trying out slightly more expensive and higher coverage makeup, as opposed to my “naturally pretty” no foundation phase. This came right after I finally figured out I wasn’t naturally all that pretty without some foundation, thanks to the pimples from hell in my late teens. So I googled and googled for good high coverage foundations (a girl’s gotta do her research!) and finally zeroed in on Revlon Colorstay which was apparently one of the best drug store foundations out there and it’s been my go-to foundation ever since..anyway, enough babbling about my life story.
Of course, most of us NEVER get the right shade on our first try unless we’re super lucky (which of course..I wasn’t!) so I tried/threw out a couple of shades before I finally found my perfect match..Warm Golden. It was almost similar to that feeling you get when you think you’ve found the perfect guy. I have a fair-ish skin tone and this one was the shade closest to it. It suited me like second skin and gave a medium to heavy coverage. But of course you could end up looking er..not so natural (or pretty) if you plaster on too much.
I once tried some experimenting with foundations by mixing a couple of different brands after a wave of inspiration from you-tube guru Cassandra Bankson and ended up looking like Kim Kardashian meets Jan Crouch meets Oompa Loompa. But within the safe limits it perfectly evens out my skin. I still needed a concealer to cover up some of those really dark spots (refer to pimple story above) but the light ones were almost hard to see.
Some people say it has a bothersome paint-like smell but maybe it’s the blinding love for the product but I never noticed anything that troubling about the smell. And I find that it blends very easily with fingers and a brush is not really necessary. The one major complaint I have about the foundation is the cap bottle. It comes in a screw cap bottle and is hard to pick up the right amount without a pump, but I guess we don’t get everything we want.
Hopefully Revlon will hear our multiple collective woes and strap on a pump to the bottle soon. But overall I love this product and it’s perfect for those who want a great natural looking foundation with good coverage without breaking the bank.

I wanted to show you guys the coverage of the foundation since I love you all soo soo much, so I drew a scar on my hand with a long stay eye pencil and then covered it up with the foundation. It it’s a taaad more visible than the pic here but you can still see how awesome the coverage is!
The pros of Revlon ColorStay Liquid Foundation Warm Golden:
Medium-heavy coverage
Moderately priced
Contains Spf 6, but even then we never take any chances when it comes to sunscreen
It comes in both dry and oily/combiantion skin formulations. So there’s one out there for everyone
Stays all day without touch-ups
Matte coverage. Doesn’t make your skin shiny or oily looking after a while, we all know how much we hate that!
The cons of Revlon ColorStay Makeup Warm Golden
No pump. Are you hearing us, Revlon?
The smell. Sensitive sniffers out there might have a problem
Needs a makeup remover to remove completely
Price: Rs. 800
VNA Rating: 4.5/5
Conclusion: Revlon ColorStay Liquid Foundation is one of the best foundations out there which is suitable for daily wear as well as that special occasion. Definitely worth a try in case you haven’t yet. Comes out in 2 variants: for Combination/Oily Skin and Dry Skin so you can choose the one for you. The dry skin one gives a dewy finish.
