MAC lipsticks have always enjoyed a separate department in my head. The sheer varieties of colours and finishes have always fascinated and truth be told, scared me a little. Wherever I enter a MAC store, I cannot help my head from swiveling in every direction just because there is so much to look at! The SAs are very helpful, of course, but that doesn’t help my eyes from straying here and there! I believe that a lipstick is essential to completing one’s look and the right colour can instantly brighten up one’s complexion. The lipstick that I am going to review and swatch today is a summer pink shade with lustre finish called MAC Lustering.
MAC Lustering
is described as an ‘Outspoken Pink’ on their official website. It is a lipstick from their permanent range but I find its not much talked about. It is not one of the iconic and bestselling shades of MAC but it is beautiful.
Lustering is a lustre finish which means that it is sheer and not extremely pigmented, so those of you with very pigmented lips can steer clear of this colour if you don’t want to put in the effort 2 or 3 extra swipes. The colour is a gorgeous watermelon pink which at first looked too bright for me in the tube but when the SA applied it to my lips, it instantly lit up my complexion. This is perfect for the spring/summer season as it is a cheerful pink which is not bold or over the top. Actually, one of the main reasons for me to love this shade is because I can wear it every day to college or the office and still get away with it.
The lipstick glides smoothly on the lips and it is extremely moisturising. Mac lipsticks always feel good and comfortable on the lips and this shade is no different. The lasting power however isn’t that strong. It stays on my lips for 3 to 4 hours after which it starts to fade away. After the colour has faded away, it leaves a lovely pink tint behind which stays on for an hour or two. The only little problem that I noticed was that the lipstick started sweating after a few days but there was no drastic melting as such. But I still think that it may melt in the Indian heat and one should be careful of that. Lustering smells just like all MAC lipsticks , a yummy and sweet vanilla scent which is not overpowering at all.
