Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet Lipstick 02 Frambourjoise Review
By Contributor: Tejinder
Today I am up with a review and swatches of a latest launch from Bourjois. Its the new matte velvet lipstick like those Nyx Matte Lip Creams. I went to Boots after reading the reviews of the new Rouge Edition Velvet Lipsticks on various beauty blogs but it wasn’t in stock (did come back with some other Bourjois products). On my next visit to Boots over the Easter holidays I was glad to see them in stock and picked two shades Frambourjoise and Peach Club. These lipsticks come in 8 stunning shades, all of them so pretty that I will definitely pick more from this range. After all these are one of the most gorgeous and beautiful matte lipsticks. Having used them a few times; it’s time now for the reviews; starting with my thoughts on Shade Velvet 02.
Bourjois Claims: Bold, matte and long-lasting colour with 24hr hold! Its lightweight, velvety texture and non-drying formula gives extreme comfort that doesn’t smudge! From sassy reds to vibrant pinks and everyday nudes there is a colour to suit every occasion. Soft, melting texture glides on to the lips and turns into a matt, velvety and incredibly light colour. Lips are left smooth and soft as velvet. Enriched with evanescent oils, it’s incredibly sensuous formula provides a soft, second-skin feel, without drying or fading lips.
EXPERT TIP: Apply using your fingertips for a softer look or use the applicator and build up the coverage for an intense statement pout!
My Review:
Frambourjoise is a pretty red with pink undertone; those afraid of wearing red should try this eye catching shade and my favourite among what I picked. It brightens both my face and mood. Texture is very creamy, soft and smooth like butter; not thick or sticky but glides very smoothly on the lips and gives velvety matte finish. It feels so light and comfortable. It looks glossy when first applied but turns into matte finish without drying the lips. But those with very dry chapped lips should exfoliate or moisturize them before applying. It has superb staying power; on my lips it stays more than 6 7 hours.
It does not transfer; and neither accentuates your lips nor settles in to fine lines. It refuses to budge until you remove with wet wipes and leaves pretty tint after removing with wet wipes which is quite impressive. Pigmentation is great as two swipes give full coverage to lips. Even one swipe looks great but down to individual preference. The resulting finish is pretty amazing. This colour would suit all medium to fair skin tones.
Packaging: It comes in a unique, beautiful square shape bottle with shiny cap that matches the lipstick shade. The colour can be seen through the transparent bottle. The brand name is embossed on the lower body of the bottle with black colour. Shade number/name is mentioned on the sticker pasted on the clear bottle. The lipstick has sponge applicator which is very soft and easy to apply.
Pros:
- Comes in 8 stunning shades
- Does not dry your lips
- Awesome pigmentation
- Superb staying power
- Soft and smooth texture
- Classy packaging
- Feels light & comfortable on the lips
- Does not smudge or accentuate lips
Cons:
- Those with dry or chapped lips must exfoliate or moisturize them before applying
- Fragrance is unpleasant.
Price: Rs.970
Overall Verdict: I simply adore these beauties in terms of texture, pigmentation and staying power. A bit expensive but totally worth the price! One of the best matte lipsticks I have used. Comes in 8 shades to suit all skin tones; must try at least one!
