Real Techniques Duo Fiber Collection Limited Edition Bush Set by Samantha Chapman Review
By Contributor: Samannita Modak
“No matter how artistic a person is, without quality tools and products even a genius like Michelangelo would not have been able to paint the Sistine Chapel.” Taken from Kevin Aucoin, the late top makeup artist and author, from his book Face Forward….wait wait don’t get scared, I am not in mood to lecture you but from the very first day I have spent thousands of bucks behind these Real Techniques brushes so I keep on justifying the purchases..more to myself! Yes I have almost completed my RT brushes collection. Today’s review is on the Limited Edition Duo Fiber Collection Brush Set.
Real Techniques Claims: Create buildable color and add texture to look pixel perfect for any occasion and in any light with this first and only duo-fiber set. Real Techniques Duo-Fiber Collection Limited Edition includes 3 limited edition brushes:
– Real Techniques Duo-Fiber Limited Edition Face Brush for lightweight application.
– Real Techniques Duo-Fiber Limited Edition Contour Brush for controlled contouring and sculpting.
– Real Techniques Duo-Fiber Limited Edition Eye Brush for finishing touches to the eye.
A true multi-tasker duo-fiber bristles work with cream, liquid or powder for an unbelievably air-brushed finish. Ultra-plush, synthetic taklon bristles are hand-cut and 100% cruelty-free, extended aluminum handles are light and easy to use. You can read more here
The limited edition tag has created all the hype. The brush set comes in a simple packaging and without any case. I found the packaging a little dull as it is a combo of black and white whereas the core collection I reviewed has a classy look.
Coming to the quantity of brushes..only 3! I know greedy me, at least they should provide a case. The brushes comes in a white body with black rubber holder at the bottom of the brush that adds a black and white look to the set..boring!
Coming to the brushes, there are three brushes in the set. First is a face brush, the second is a contour brush and the other is an eye brush.
The brushes are not dense like the other brushes from RT I have. They are somewhat flat. Although RT claims that these brushes are for light weight application but among the three I found only the contour and eye brush to be of some use. May be I need to learn to use the face brush.
The bristles of the brushes are no doubt very soft that I can’t stop myself from touching them all the time. The taklon bristles are easy to wash and they dry quickly. The bristles are the mixture of black and white which is why every time I use it, the brushes look untidy….grrrrrrrr. That is why I have to wash them after every use with my Mac Brush Cleanser . I have washed it atleast 20 times till now and didn’t find any shedding of the bristles.
Thumbs up points about Real Techniques Duo Fiber Collection Brush Set:
The brushes are easy to handle due to the rubber grip.
The bristles are soft.
Cruelty-free brushes.
Easy to wash.
Quick drying after every wash.
No shedding of bristles.
Thumbs down points about Real Techniques Duo Fiber Collection Brush Set:
Boring packaging.
Being pricey it should provide a case at least.
The brushes are not dense.
Price: $40.78 (although the official website now shows $20..maybe they have reduced the price now)
Availability: iherb.com, feelunique.com, lookfantastic.com, a Facebook group “order makeup UK”
VNA Rating: 3/5
My Recommendation: Real Techniques Duo Fiber Collection Brush Set is an okay set. Well, right now I am completing my entire RT collection and this brush set was bought after the Core Collection and few single ones so if you are a collector then go ahead. But if you really want some good duo fiber brushes then I would recommend that you skip this set first. I know I am sounding too rude against this brush set but my grudge is why it is called limited edition? And such price hike? Is it really worth the price? At least I don’t think so. Although not sure about the recent price fall.
