NYX Ultra Pearl Mania Loose Pearl Eye Shadow Pigment Lime Review and Swatches
By Contributor: Poorna
NYX is a brand which I sort of rely on when it comes to eye makeup. They have a number of very cool eye palettes, and I own a few really nice ones from them. What’s more, although expensive in India, they are very reasonably priced abroad, and if you play your cards right, you can ask a friend to pick up a few things from there before returning. Anyway, this particular eye shadow is one of the products which I thought would be great on me, despite the weird color, and my gamble paid off. Presenting my review and swatches of the Ultra Pearl Mania Eye Shadow from NYX which is one of the most versatile pigments I have in my kitty currently.

The color of the Mint pearl pigment is a very unique. It is a very light shade of yellow, bordering towards green. However, on application, it turns greenish golden. You can put it on as sheer or as thick as you like – it really depends on how you want to use it. I have seen that this has a bit of a fall out while working (since the pigments are looser than the average set eye shadows in a pan) but as the pigments are more pearly than glittery, it does tend to cling to the skin mostly.
As for the usefulness of this loose eyeshadow is concerned, I have to say, I love this pigment. I use it a lot on my brow bone, right under my brow, as a color that really opens up my eyes. The color is not chalky or difficult to mix. Instead, it blends like a dream, can be layered over other color, and works very well both wet and dry. In the hand swatch you can see it applied dry, and on my eyes I have applied it wet to add to the intensity of the shade.
I have also used this to highlight my cheekbones, add a bit of a light to my face, or enhance my “glowing skin” (not that I have it, mind you!!) before photographs. The other very cool application of this is to mix a bit of this with my regular moisturizer before going to a party to give my hands and feet a little extra shine than normal. It stays on for a good period of time on your eyelids unless you do not rub it (8 hours easily), and has to be removed with a makeup remover.

The packaging of the pigment is done simply – a small pot about 2 inches tall, with a sturdy black lid, which makes it easy to carry about. The lid is screw top, and you can open it to find the finely milled powder inside. The packaging makes it slightly difficult to take out. I generally put a bit of it on the back of my wrist, or my palm, and work with it accordingly. It is quite easy to use it with a few drops of Inglot Duraline and use this as a liquid eye liner.
