Bourjois So Laque Ultra Shine Nail Paint Rose Satin Review, Swatches, NOTD
By Contributor: Poorna Banerjee
Have you ever had a nail polish you had to treat like a diva? I do. When Bourjois comes up with its amazing nail colors and finishes, it’s hard to resist, especially for a die-hard Bourjois fan like me. Very soon, the glutton inside me cries out for just that one color which would be enough – then one more, and then one more… and well, the downfall, so as to say, happens at the counter in front of a self-satisfied, smug sales assistant who is virtually always correct. That is what happened with this nail paint. I am a nude, pink and pastel shade lover when it comes to nail polish colors, and I prefer a glossy, creamy finish without glitter or shimmer. And when I was going through the nail polish shades, the crafty little sales assistant looked at me, smiled, and swatched Rose Satin on my finger, and said,
“Madam, perfect color for nails”.
Of course I was sold. It was embarrassing how fast money came out of my pocket. Exuberant and ecstatic, I went back home, and applied it on my nails. Let’s start with the review and swatches.
Bourjois Claims: With a range of pure, lacquered shades there is no need for sparkles or shimmer, just smooth, shiny and purely colourful nails. All our nail enamels are formulated WITHOUT using: Formaldehyde, Toluene, DBP, Acetone, Phthalates. For longer-lasting shine and hold, don’t forget to apply the FixantBrillant top coat.
My Review:
Of course, I don’t have a top coat with me, but I am all right with that. The fact that this contains vinyl in it makes it very glossy and slightly rubbery in texture once dried. Does that make sense? Well, lets start with the packaging. As you can see, the packaging is sturdy, big, and contains 10 ml. of the product (Rs.380 for 10 ml. though. However, with the new gel stylist range of Lakme costing Rs.400
I don’t trust the cosmetic world any more.). The packaging is color coordinated with the color and its easy to find.
The applicator of the nail polish is a nice one with a handle neither too big nor too small. It is easy to grip, and it makes application quite a simple procedure. One coat delivers a streaky, uneven, translucent texture, but two gives the opacity one looks for. I sometimes apply two coats, sometimes three, depending on the time frame I have in mind, because this damn thing takes a good bit of time to dry up.
And by a good bit of time, I do mean a good bit of time. This pampered beauty takes at least an hour to properly dry up and adhere. Before that, beware. If you accidentally bump into something, your finger will have the imprint of it, make no mistake about it. It stays on really well though. Once you have put it on, it does not chip off at all. You can actually peel it off, but otherwise, this can easily pull off a six-seven day stint without a single issue, and does not get stained.
Pros of Bourjois So Laque Ultra Shine Nail Polish Rose Satin:
Lovely pastel pink shade
Great applicator
Lasts a good period of time
Cons of Bourjois So Laque Ultra Shine Nail Paint Rose Satin:
Takes a long time to dry
Takes two-three coats to get completely opaque
Price: Rs.380
VNA Rating: 3.75/5
Overall: Bourjois So Laque Ultra Shine Nail Polish Rose Satin is a pretty nude pink pastel shade. Sucker is the word when it comes to Bourjois. And at Rs.380 these aren’t cheap. But you know, the color is perfect, the finish is incredible, and the glossy look that stays on your nails make your nails look so beautiful that you would actually want to sometimes just look at them and grin. Or maybe, that’s just me.
