Mac Select Sheer/Pressed Powder
By Contributor: Ifrah Kareem
Hey all you prettyyy Ladies Out there! Hope you all doing great, should be great because the climate is really beautiful. I have been reading VNA for quite some time and I felt I too should start contributing some reviews and swatches. So I couldn’t resist myself from writing my first ever review! I have used a couple of pressed powders or compacts but this was a little different. My besties wedding was coming up and I wanted to buy something that would really look great on my skin (oh btw I have got a combination skin..Hi5 girls!) I always prefer to have my make up light weight as well as natural and that’s when I got introduced to this magical pan of compact.
I bought Select Sheer in shade nc40, after the MUA matched my skin tone. Please do try out the pressed powder once before you buy it, you can get a free make over that way too! The best part about it is, it does not give you cakeyness & dry look and rather gives you a perfect matte finish and gives me this wow factor just by applying this pressed powder. Its Mac!
Texture: It has a very silky finish and gives a matte effect on application but never gives you a cakey look.
Coverage: The shade I purchased gives me a natural look when I apply it & does make me look fresh giving that extra glow. This is best when I am in a hurry and I don’t have the time to apply any foundation on, only the pressed powered does wonders. It lasts for almost 4-5 hours. Yes if you are travelling in hot sun you do need to touch up at times, to remove the oil in case you have an oily skin. It covers all the fine lines & also hides the blemishes to a certain extent.
Packaging: I love the packaging and it’s in my favorite color black. It’s not too fancy but simple and neat. Now comes in my favorite part – Mirror. Yes it does have a reasonably good sized mirror with a puff applicator.
Suitable for all skin tones & skin types. I am glad I purch ased this lovely product.

- It gives me a very natural look and Mac has aptly named it – it does give you a sheer look.
- Gives a minimal coverage and a totally polished look.
- Total oil control & gives me a beautiful matte look.
- No strong scent or fragrance.
- It covers all the light spots and blemishes and you can see the difference instantly.
- Did not give me any break outs. No allergic reactions.
- I don’t have to apply it again & again, touching it up twice a day is fine.
- It lasts you a long time. So you don’t have to buy another one for a few months.
What I don’t like about about Mac Pressed?
- A bit expensive. I guess that’s the only thing I can say about this, tried hard to think about any negative point but NO can’t find out!

VNA Rating: 5/5
Conclusion: Mac Select Sheer Pressed Powder is the best pressed powder I have ever tired. The best part is it does not give you the cakey look and makes you look fresh, matte while still imparting a glow. It is best for all seasons or any climate, any time any where! So if you people ask me I would highly recommend this compact as it gives a fresh look and the shades suit the Indian skin tones. This is a good base for your make up and lasts really long. If you are a person who likes natural look, go for this product. It doesn’t make your face look white, but gives you flawless finish. There are a zillion pressed powders out there in the market but this one is amazing and a must try. Highly Recommended!
