Lakme Absolute Gel Stylist Nail Paint Pink Champagne
By Contributor: Agnirupa Acharyya
I may not be a nail paint fanatic like I am about lipsticks and glosses but when a popular drugstore brand Lakme whams me in the face with the promise of the effect of a gel manicure in a single nailpolish itself I had to turn around, stare and well yes buy! I simply loved most of the shades and had a tough time choosing and yes the ridiculous pricing gave me nightmares too but I wanted a gel manicureeeee so damn it! I got 2! Today I will swatch and review Lakme Absolute Gel Stylist Nail Paint in Pink Champagne.
Lakme Claims: Nails are fast becoming the next big beauty accessory for today’s fashionable woman who seeks professional and salon based expertise to achieve highly styled nails. Inspired by this insight, the breakthrough Lakmé Absolute Gel Stylist range packs the performance of a gel manicure in a bottle to ensure glossy and plump nails in a single stroke.
This break-through product range aims to introduce the global trend of gel based manicures in the country. It comes with a highly pigmented colour formula to ensure super glossy and plump nails. A singular simple stroke delivers rich colour and a high gloss finish that stays for long. The Absolute Gel Stylist comes in exciting shades ranging from tomato tang, coral flush to nudes like nude glow and caramel melt. The range is your very own manicurist in a bottle giving you an unmatchable shine and the most perfectly styled nails.
Lakme Pink Champagne is a soft girly pinkish coral which is just the perfect summery shade and looks very feminine and pretty. I greedily wore it on each and every nail including my toenails.
The texture being quite thick takes a bit of a time to dry completely but when it does, it dries to a smooth perfect glossy finish with no bumps or scars or bubbles *me happy*
The nailpaints are housed in a big OPI like bottle but very oddly contains only gm. The brush was too fat and large for my nails and picked up way too much product IMO . It had no shape either! Just a jharu like brush.
The texture was very thick and gloopy which made it quite hard to smoothen it and spread but once done the finish looked really really nice and glossy! Me being a lazy bum hate topcoats,bottomcoats..err..basecoats ;) so I just like to slather on my nailpaints and be done. This range definitely provides the glossy finish which a top coat usually brings and though of course it is nowhere near a real gel manicure (duhh lakme!) it still looks pretty attention catching and nice!
The glossy finish sorry to say fades within 4-5 days (sooner if you do housework) and soon resembles any other nailpolish in the market. The tips get chipped too.
Last but not the least, unlike many other paints, these gel paints were super smooth and easy to remove and vanished in a singlke swipe.

The pros of Lakme Absolute Gel Stylist Nail Paint Pink Champagne:
- Sturdy glass bottle withstands minor accidents.
- Packaging looks classy!
- The nail paint dries to a smooth, glossy finish without any bumps or bubbles!
- The glossy effect is equivalent to slathering on a topcoat on your painted nail- its quite good.
- The color Pink Champagne is a very pretty coral pink shade which would look great on all!
- Easy to remove.
The cons of Lakme Absolute Gel Stylist Nail Polish:
- Pricceeeeeeeeee !!!! 400 for a little better than ordinary nailpaint? Grow up lakme!
- Thick gloopy texture is not very likeable.
- Glossy finish starts fading from 4th day onwards and resembles any other polish.
Price: Rs. 400 (can’t you hear my purse crying. I can!)
VNA Rating: 3/5
Do I recommend? Lakme Absolute Gel Stylist Nail Paint shades are really good. Most are very bright and vibrant, more so for the glossy finish! But the gel nail claim is too fake to support. And Rs 400 is really a ridiculous price to ask for these ok-ok nail paints! So unless you are as curious or as crazy or lazy (who hates applying topcoat like me) then you can easily skip these! However if you are I urge you to try these nail polishes out!

You’re being too kind on Lakme. These are not good. They take forever and ever and ever to dry and don’t even get that gel look :( However, the colour is good, I have this same colour.
hihi no re i have mentioned both ur complaints myself too :P but i know :-| for this price i shd have bashed them more :P
This shade is quite pretty!! :) and it doesn’t give full gel-kinda finish, I have the same color…
haan :'( i wd hv evn kissed the lakme ppl if they had atlst brought out the gel finish at this whopping price -_-
The colour is pretty, but it gonna make look my hands dull..
and lovely rings too :)
aww sweety thanxx so much <3 <3 :-* no no m sure it will luk v pretty on u too!!
This is such a pretty shade! Nice NOTD. I loved the silver ring that you are wearing :)
thanxx so much sayantini :D :-* there are 2 silver rings btw ^_^ worn togethr!
such a pretty summery shade! but it looks way too sheer and at that price its sooo not worth it!
Lovely shade…but quite sheer!
omg I tried these at a store and they looked nothing like a gel polish! It was extremely runny and very transparent… I would expect gel polishes to go on opaque in a single coat!
That’s a lovely shade ! However its damn expensive !
i so want to try scarlet red..but kya yaar after ur review i feel like giving it a miss!
Ahh, seems too expensive to even try out. Damn them to hell, I’ll stick to my NYX and Colorama nail paints :D
Is the red one nicer ? The glossiness goes away na ?
Ths shade looks good!
I have housework to do, so probably the glossiness will fade away in a day or 2 and it’ll start looking like my Rs 50 Elle 18 ones. Nope, I’ll stick to the Elle 18 ones anyday! :p
I can get 2 9 to 5 nail aints in dis much amount which r mch mch betr phewwww…… 400 bucks…. And nt evn worth it….
Absolutely agree with the cons that Agnirupa has mentioned…don’t agree with the pros though. In fact the texture of the nail polish was so gluey that I found it hard to apply a smooth finish/coat. Moreover, it gives absolutely no glossy finish and is like any other nail polish. Lakme claims that the nail paint can stay on without chipping for up to 3 weeks…absolute rubbish. Mine chipped off within a week. The product is such a rip off at 400!!! I was probably a little too indulgent when I picked this up…regret it. Lakme, really disappointed.
Everything is very open with a precise explanation of the challenges.
It was definitely informative. Your site is useful.
