I suffer from huge dark circles and concealers have been my saviours. I don’t buy foundations but I love stocking up on concealers in order to find my HG concealer. Rimmel London is one brand that scores well on both quality and price meter(a rare combo in India) hence I picked a concealer from their range after reading good reviews on it.
Rimmel London Claims: Effectively Conceals Blemishes and Dark Circles.
Rimmel London Hide The Blemish Concealer is a creamy concealer stick that blends to camouflage dark circles and blemishes. I was not all impressed with the shade selection available in the range. They offer 5 shades to choose from (though I found only 4 on Slassy.com) but most of them are way too pale for Indian skin tones. Only 2 shades- Soft Honey & Natural Beige would suit our dusky yellow complexion and I doubt if these can adequately cater to the Indian market.
I picked up Soft Honey which is a yellow toned medium shade concealer which suits my skin tone (NC 35) to the T. It does look ashy on my dark circles but then most concealers do unless I use a color corrector as I have HUGE (NO KIDDING) and prominent dark circles.
It has a thick creamy texture and blends well. It can get streaky unless I set it with a powder. The coverage I would say is medium and will certainly cover spots and marks well. I do not like using this for concealing my dark circles as it gives a very caked up finish and creases easily. Due to this my experience with the concealer was a bit disappointing as my main concern were dark circles.
The staying power is decent for a drugs tore brand and this stays put for about 4-5 hours. I feel the concealer is priced decently(even after the price hike) and is a great option for concealing marks and blemishes especially if you are on a budget.
The concealer comes in a screw up lipstick form with a cream cap. The packaging is convenient and fuss free. However, my stick seems to be faulty as the rotat ing mechanism is very tight and every time I rotate it, the concealer ends up scratching against the barrel leading to product wastage. I’m hoping I got a faulty piece and that this isn’t the case with all pieces.
Let’s check the photos and swatches:
I recently contracted some infection during the monsoons on my arms which left me with 2 brown spots and I concealed them to show you how well this works on concealing spots! Here is the before after shot.
The Good about Rimmel Concealer:
A medium shade concealer with yellow undertones
Provides medium coverage
Easily covers marks and spots
Decent Staying Power
Comes in a hygienic screw up packaging
Affordable
The Bad about Hide The Blemish Concealer:
Not suitable concealing dark circles as it gives a caked up finish and settles into fine lines
Most shades in the range are too pale for Indian skin tones.
Price: Rs.325
VNA Rating: 3.5/5
Final Recommendation: Rimmel London Hide The Blemish Concealer is an affordable concealer which is a great option for concealing spots and blemishes. However, if your main concern is dark circles then it is better to skip this as it gives a caked up finish under the eyes.
