Lakme Absolute White Intense Cover Wet and Dry Compact
By Contributor: Agnirupa Acharyya
Helloo my cuties n beauties! Please don’t belch. I know it’s really cheesy :P Annndd..I am back with a bang after my weekend Paris trip with yet another product review and swatch to keep up with VNA’s monthly theme of base makeup. This is a product which I had never tried when it was launched and was kind of sure it would be an epic fail but oohh I have used this one every single day since I have bought it and I have almost hit pan by its continuous use in the last few months!
Wondering what high-end product I am venturing into today? Naahh. its from our own Lakme stable: the Lakme Absolute White Intense Wet and Dry Compact. Whew!! Quite a mouthful of tha name!
I have no qualms in stating the truth that I hated the entire range right from its quantity to the prices and reviews were quite mixed in the beginning so I really did not want to try and waste my money but I badly needed a compact after going through my Maybelline one and I was passing by the counter and thought why not atleast try. Bass..I loved the melting formula, the silky texture and the shade 01 Ivory Fair was just soo apt. Bingo it’s mine!
What Lakme Says: Lakme Absolute White Intense Wet and Dry Compact 16-hour comes with dual usage, compact and foundation. It gives you a flawless smooth skin. With SPF-17, it protects your skin against harmful UV radiations. Lakme Absolute White Intense Wet and Dry Compact 16hr is long lasting and stays for 16 hours a day. Rich in vitamin B3 and Hyaluronic acid, it hydrates your skin, making it smooth and even. It comes with a sponge applicator that helps the compact to blend well with the skin.
Features and Benefits:
SPF-17.
No harmful ingredients.
Three shades for different skin tones
Easily applicable
Shades Available:
01 Ivory Fair.
03 Golden Medium
05 Honey Beige
The packaging is very classy of the compact with different compartments for its lovely soft sponge and another one for the mirror and compact. The greyish black glossy gunmetal finish sets it apart from other drugstore compacts and it is quite sturdy. I have thrown (err..dropped by mistake) it too many times to know it withstands normal torture. Ohh and it comes in a lovely velvet pouch too.
The texture is dreamy soft, silky and melts into my skin without even waiting for a second to feel uncomfortable and powdery. Total love! I just pat with the sponge on my face and voila! All oiliness, the minor blemishes and marks are covered to a great extent and my face looks fresh and glowy. I apply this daily with or without a BB cream and it never leaves my handbag! It is my quick fix for oily T-zone, instant medium coverage and yeahh sunscreen as well. No wonder I have used it like mad!
Though this can be used as a wet compact too I never use it that way simply because 1. I don’t need heavy coverage and 2. I am too scared to infect my lovely sponge with a bacteria colony. Once I tested the coverage and it did give a higher one than when used dry. So you guys should definitely try if you need a heavier coverage. The shades are more or less apt for the different strata of our Indian skin tones- fair, medium and dusky but 3 shades is too less. Why lakme why??? Atleast 5? The shade 01 ivory fair has no yellow undertones so goes on perfectly and smoothly on my pinkish complexion giving it a fresh, satin finish.
For me this compact cum foundation lasts minimum for 6-7 hours and hardly needs touching up and so seals the deal for me from all the sides. Even in this balmy humid and sweaty weather it stays on my face through the day and does not melt, streak or oxidise. Kudos Lakme!
Here I’ve applied concealer on selected areas on my face and then applied a light touch of the Lakme Absolute Compact
The pros of Lakme Absolute Compact:
Glossy gunmetal packaging which is quite sturdy as well, having the compact with mirror in one compartment and a soft lovely sponge in a separate compartment.
Finely milled, smooth, silky powder which gives a satin matte look, concealing and freshening up my face without feeling or looking cakey or powdery.
Medium to buildable coverage when used dry, just as compact and totally wearable on its own on top of any moisturiser/sunscreen.
Does not melt, streak or oxidize even in horrid humid weather.
Lasts on my face almost throughout the day without requiring much touch up.
Has SPF
No obtrusive fragrance.
The cons of Lakme Compact:
Only 3 shades to choose from. Hhonestly Lakme why can’t you finish something properly!
For ladies looking for heavy coverage this is just not *IT*
Err..16hours?? Lakme did you claim that? How crazy can you guys be.
Dry skinned ladies- bhaag milkha bhaag!!
Price: Rs. 595 for 9gm (which is a huuggee amount!)
VNA Rating: 4.5/5 (I love it to death and the cons don’t bother me)
Do I recommend? Lakme Absolute White Intense Cover Wet and Dry Compact is for combination-oily skinned ladies who need a sheer-medium coverage and mostly an escape from dull, oily skin through most of the year and a bigger escape from those typical heavy powdery compacts which leave your face lifeless and zombie-like. I wanted to try the TBS loose powder but honestly I really cannot go without SPF when I am out for the day. So my Ben Nye and Rimmel Stay Matte Powder stay locked up except when am out in the evening and this is my most loved, used, abused and carried compact. Highly recommended!
