Rimmel London Gentle Eye Makeup Remover Review – Gentle Much?

Rimmel London Gentle Eye Makeup Remover Review

Rimmel London Gentle Eye Makeup Remover

By Contributor: Sharmistha Chowdhury

Cleansing, Toning, Moisturizing is very important for our Skin Care Routine but proper cleaning of makeup residues is also an important regimen that is a must to do. I have tried Maybelline makeup remover, Lakme bi-phased makeup remover and Revlon Cream based makeup remover..phew!! Today I will review a makeup remover from Rimmel London.

Rimmel Claims: Gently removes all eye make up, including long lasting and waterproof makeup. No oily residue. Suitable for sensitive eyes and contact lens wearers. Dermatologically and Ophthalmologically tested.

Rimmel London is a drugstore brand from UK and slowly we are getting these international brands here in India…..good!! Recently Rimmel London had opened a standalone here in South City Mall, Kolkata. So I had to go in and shop.

Its comes in a transparent bottle with quite a lot of product in it. It is a water based makeup remover with no oil in it. In Lakme and Maybelline makeup removers, 50 percent of the content is water and another 50 percent is oil so you need to shake them up before using. Well this one has no oil so the best part is it does not leave any oily film or residue behind. Your eyes won’t look raccoon black!

The most irritating part of this makeup remover is it stings badly. I mean every time I use it on my eyes, my eyes become red and watery. I would suggest girls with sensitive eyes should simply stay away from this makeup remover. You really need to work hard while removing makeup, it takes 4-5 swipes to remove all the traces of makeup. I do have to rub my waterline to remove the kohl.

It claims to remove long lasting and waterproof makeup gently, is suitable for sensitive eyes & contact lens wearers and Dermatologically & Opthalmologically Tested. I feel all these claims are false. This product is a complete dud!

The Good Things:

  • It is water based and not bi-phased like other makeup removers in India
  • It doesn’t leave any oily or greasy residue.
  • You get a lot of quantity for the price

The Bad Things:

  • All the claims that the product makes are exaggerated and false.
  • Not at all suitable for sensitive eyes and makes them red and watery.
  • Stings really badly whenever used.
  • Need 4-5 Swipes to remove makeup completely.

Price: Rs. 375 for 125ml

VNA Rating: 2/5

Recommendation: Rimmel London Gentle Eye Makeup Remover is something I won’t recommend. Although I do like that its water based and oil free. But it stings my eyes badly whenever I use it. And it is difficult to remove waterproof makeup with it specially eyeliners and mascaras. This product is a complete dud!

  3. What a pity! I’ve been wanting to replace my Clinique remover with something not so expensive. Guess I should try out Lakme bi phased remover since this is such a dud..
