Revlon Just Bitten Lipstain + Balm Gothic, Passion: Review and Swatches
By Contributor: Tejinder Kaur
There are some products which look totally promising after the hype they have generated but turn out to be completely different. I am sharing a review on one such product with you today. I had great expectations when I picked the Revlon Lipstain + Balm but apart from the staying power which is excellent at 8-9 hours, I am disappointed with it. I had originally gone shopping for Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Lip Balm Stain but came back with these along with MUA power pouts. I bought two shades from the range: Gothic and Passion.
Revlon Claims: This unique 2-in-1 gives you kiss-proof colour with soft shine and a nourishing balm for supreme comfort. Available in 15 shades.
Directions: Apply marker directly to clean, dry lips. Build colour and coverage as desired. After 2 minutes add extra shine and moisture by applying the balm.
Passion is a bright rosy pink. While Gothic is a deep ruby red. Both can be worn everyday. The pigmentation is terrible as you need to apply atleast 2-3 coats for the colours to show up. Passion has got weak pigmentation and not meant for pigmented lips.
It is a dual sided product, on one end is the felt tip which contains double cap to prevent it from drying out and on another end is a translucent balm which provides instant moisture and soft shine with a loosely attached cap. I had a really hard time getting this stain to perform well, the tip is extremely rough and felt hard and dried out. When the stain actually comes out, it goes on very uneven and dries your lips as well although the creamy, lightweight balm perfectly melts on lips for smooth application. The lip balm is super moisturizing and creamy. I’ve heard people complain about the balm end falling off and I had a similar experience as well. There is no way to retract the balm so you should be careful while closing the lid.
Fragrance: The fragrance is very pleasant. I just love it.
Let’s look at the photos and swatches:

The good things about the Lipstain plus balm:
Excellent staying power. Lasts for 8-9 hours easily.
The formula is transfer and smudge proof.
Lip stain and balm in one convenient, dual-ended package.
The lip balm provides instant moisture and soft shine.
Pleasant fragrance.
The bad things about the Lipstain plus balm:
Terrible pigmentation. Needs atleast 2-3 swipes for the colour to show up.
Extremely rough and hard lip stain felt tip.
Uneven stain and dries out the lips.
Caps are not sturdy and fall off easily. So not travel friendly.
Once the lip balm falls off, there is no way to retract the balm back inside.
Price: £7.99 from Superdrug/Boots/Ebay/Amazon UK (these are not yet launched in India)
Other Shades available in this range: Twilight, Frenzy, Beloved, Crave, Midnight, Forbidden, Flame, Victorian, Instinct, Mystical, Desire, Dawn, Fate.
VNA Rating: 2/5
Final Verdict: Revlon Just Bitten Lipstain + Balm is good in terms of staying power. The lip balm is moisturising and gives a subtle sheen to the lips. But the pigmentation was the biggest let down. Really disappointed and won’t buy in future or recommend it to anyone.
