Colorbar Eyesadow Black Tie Review Swatches

By Contributor: Mansi Chauhan

I think black eye shadow is a must for your vanity as it’s versatile. You can use it alone or combine it with other shade to get desired look. I purchased Colorbar eyeshadow black tie to try smokey eye looks (I’m still trying to do it perfectly). So, today I’ll be reviewing this only. Read more to know how it worked for me.

What the company claims:

  • Colorbar Eye Shadow is a pigmented powder that gives the eyes a shine and pearl-like effect
  • Ultra fine in texture, it is easy to blend and does not settle into the eye crease
  • This product is long lasting and fade resistant
  • It adheres to the skin and stays all day, hence no touch ups required
  • It is gentle on the eye lids
  • Its moisturizing agents keeps your eyelids soft and smooth

Available in 8 other shades: Spicy Brown, Gorgeous Gold, Copper Crush, Spicy Brown, Really Rose, Expensive Pink, Green Stroke, Aqua Marine.

Black Tie is a black shade with a grey tone and slight silver shimmer but it’s not chunky (thank god) and not very visible also. So, I think the color is good for trying smokey eyes. The texture is smooth and thus it glides easily making your application simpler. I have used it with other eye shadows also and it blends easily with them too. It neither creases nor falls out while applying and even the shimmer doesn’t spread all over your face. It’s decently pigmented and one swipe is enough to get the desired look and if you want to deepen the color you can use more than one swipe. I applied this eye shadow without primer and it stayed for around 5    hours which is not bad. If you use primer then the staying power will increase. I think at this price this is a must have for everyone

It comes in a plastic case with a transparent cover. The case has two compartments : one has eye shadow and the other has a brush inside it with a small mirror also. The packaging is not sturdy and mine is broken, don’t know how. The applicator is also not good and even the mirror is small, so both of them are useless according to me. I broke my applicator also! (careless me).

Summing up my experience with the eyeshadow:

Pros:

  • Decently pigmented
  • Affordable
  • Doesn’t fall out and creases
  • Perfect for smokey eyes
  • Smooth in texture
  • Blends easily
  • Shimmer is barely visible
  • Staying power is good

Cons:

  • Poor packaging
  • Shimmer might be a problem for some people

Final Verdict: If you don’t have a black eye shadow yet then Colorbar black tie eye shadow can be your first that is if you don’t have problem with the shimmer. You can use it as lid colour for smokey eyes. From the pigmentation to the staying power everything about it is good except the packaging but I’ll still purchase other shades from this range.
