A few months ago (Two to be precise), looking at the mirror was a horror story for me. I was shocked how much damage three months of working in a stress laden, air conditioned office with laptop as our constant companion could do. The evils of a software job. Grrrr. Rewind to six months back when I was still in my college, happy, carefree and glowing. I have always been blessed with a pimple and acne free skin without any pigmentation or any flaw (I never use a foundation or concealer and haven’t even bothered to learn how to till now).
Coming back to the scenario, after looking at all the dark circles and stress lines on my face two months back gave me the creeps and no amount to pampering could help revive the “happy-go-lucky college days” glow. That’s when my first pay (40,000 per month ain’t that bad :D ) landed on my lap and I lapped it up by stuffing my vanity case with all sorts of super brands. One such purchase was the Loreal Youth code-Luminize serum. Okay so I was blown away by the claims and tried to test out its effectiveness on my skin that was clamoring for care. Pardon the orange and brown squiggly lines on my hands and palm. Had to attend a cousin’s wedding :D
A precious, light-infusing serum developed for women aged 25-35 to help correct dark spots and reveal more even, youthful looking skin. The Serum is enriched with patented Lumi-GenTM technology to even and illuminate your skin tone.
Clinically proven results:Immediately, your skin is deeply hydrated. It glows with a new luminosity. In 1 week, your skin is more even. Correction of different types of dark spots begins. Marks start to fade: dark spots, sun spots and age-spots. In 1 month, dark spots are visibly reduced. Your skin tone is even and more luminous.
Usage: Apply this serum by itself or before your daily care, morning or evening, on your freshly cleansed face and neck. The light formula penetrates your skin leaving it intensely hydrated and incomparably silky and soft to touch. For best results, follow with Luminize Day Cream.
Packaging: It comes in a silver pump dispenser bottle with a silver nozzle cap which has to be twisted in order to be closed or opened. The bottle is strong and doesn’t break even if you drop it several times (Mark my words, since I am the lousiest person around :D ) The only drawback I found was that there should be an additional cap present in order to protect the serum from dust and contamination if one forgets to twist the nozzle back to close.
Quantity: It comes In a 30 ml bottle. It will last for a long time. I have been using it since last two months, day and night and it still has a long way to go.
My experience with Loreal Youth code Luminize Super Serum:
Cream Texture, color and fragrance: The cream is translucent, pearly white runny liquid which blends into the skin easily. I have to mention that the texture is like a dream and glides on to the skin like butter and absorbs quickly without leaving any residue. The cream has a lovely and light floral fragrance which is not too overpowering. It will linger on for a few minutes and disappear on its own.
Skin compatibility: My skin type is dry to combination and hence I always look out for products that give moisturizing as well as mattifying effect at the same time. This serum is a blessing in disguise as the consistency is just right for my skin. During day time, I use it beneath my sunscreen and I am ready to go. During night time, I wear it under a light moisturizer. I would say it totally ideal for people with my skin type. I can’t say the same for oily skinned beauties though since it tends to give an oily feeling after few hours of application.
Finish: The skin becomes glowy and dewy post application and gives a healthy appearance to dull skin. I was really happy with the dewy part as I prefer a healthy glow on my face rather than a taut and overtly mattified look.
Effects on my skin: After two months of usage, I can safely say that this product is indeed a wonder product and has helped in reviving my skin a lot. I love it totally. My female colleagues and my cousins, everyone has noticed the difference in skin texture and the apparent glow. The pore size has reduced and the tan on my forehead has reduced a lot. It has also helped in reducing the dark circles which were refusing to go thanks to endless hours on laptop. During day time, since I am mostly working in air conditioned environment, it helps in keeping my skin hydrated for 9 hours straight without any need or re application. It works best during night though and I can notice the difference when I wake up with silky smooth and glowing skin that shines with health. It has indeed brought back the glow on my skin and has reduced minor imperfections. Can’t say anything about pigmentation reduction claims though since I don’t have any pigmentation problems.
Summing up the pros and cons of the product:
Pros:
Gives a lovely glowy and dewy effect post application.
Skin becomes radiant and silky smooth to touch post application.
Visibly reduces minor spots and dark circles.
The texture is like a dream and absorbs easily into the skin
The claims by the company are true to an extent.
Did not break me out.
Lifts dull skin instantly.
Non- heavy serum which can be layered with other products.
Cons:
Packaging needs to be improved.
May not suit oily skinned beauties.
Not for people looking for mattifying effect on skin.
Can’t say anything about pigmentation reduction.
Swatches:
Notice the luminosity post application
It’s a lovely product and gives positive results. But now I am eyeing the Clarins White Plus HP serum so I may buy that once I am done with this bottle. :D
Price: Rs.1499 (The price may be on the upside, but with the benefits it offers, you won’t regret shelling out some bucks!)
Rating: 4.5/5
Recommendation: L’Oreal Youth Code hydrates the skin, reduces dark spots, makes skin bright and luminous and gives a healthy glow to the skin. The bottle lasts for approx 3 months. If you are looking for a good serum in India then do get it.
