Sonam Kapoor’s desi look at Cannes 2013 opening ceremony
So the 66th Festival De Cannes has begun! I don’t know why I’m so excited. Its not like I’m walking down the red carpet or my best friend or anyone whom know. But I’m excited….who cares why!
Let’s cut all the crap and come straight to the reason I’m writing this post – Sonam Kapoor. After all, there was so much hype after her “look” at cannes that as soon as I got back from college I got on my laptop. I didn’t even wait for my mom to bring me a glass of chilled aam-panna which is saying a LOT in the May Delhi heat!

Sonam’s makeup artist Namrata Soni tweeted this pic while getting her ready for a video shoot with L’Oreal. She wore an Anamika Khanna cropped jacket for the shoot. The look is quite androgynous and I’m liking it.

For the opening ceremony she changed into this desi look by wearing a saree-inspired Huemn dress. She wore big statement earrings by Suhani Pittie, Lanvin flats and a pony tail. This whole look was put together by her sister Rhea Kapoor. (see the 1st pic) I love how she managed this new experiment without making a joke of herself. But yeah she does look great this time….like a tribal princess?

Guess who is in the jury panel this year? Vidya Balan! Yep. Exactly. I dunno how to react.
She arrived at the Grand Hyatt Cannes Hotel Martinez for the opening ceremony wearing a royal red lehenga. International blogs are saying “Vidya Balan Arrives Looking Like A Queen”. Yeah….really! But given her usual Kanjivaram appearances, this IS a good change.

Nicole Kidman at Cannes 2013
Look look who else has joined the jury this year. Nicole Kidman looked like a breath of fresh air in a shimmery black shift dress and tie-up heels. Her sleek blunt cut shoulder length bright blonde hair give this edge to the whole look. She is also promoting her film Grace of Monaco at Cannes. Btw I just got to know she is the new face of Jimmy Choo (don’t you love these little tid-bits of info I give….makes me look all aware and knowledgeable. Say yes please!)
She was joined by Steven Spielberg, French actress Audrey Tautou and other jury members.
Amitabh Bachchan too walked the red carpet with The Great Gatsby cast. I only managed to get this picture though.
