Two things that come to my mind whenever somebody says “Night Flash”, Rihanna turning up at a movie premiere without wearing pants underneath her black dress and the camera flashes catching it (she belongs to the no bra panty group I guess) and another is the Lakme Absolute Eye Chromatic Baked Eyeshadow Duo in Night Flash (pretty long name for two innocent eyeshadows!). Well for the first time ever an Indian brand has come up with baked eyeshadows so that’s a start.
Night Flash contains two dome shaped baked eyeshadows. One is a shimmery pinky purple and the other is the highlighter which is shimmery silver colour. The purple is for the lid and silver for inner corners, brow bone. I use the silver on my lid and purple in the crease and outer area. The highlighter colour is decently pigmented and infact very pretty. I’ve one more duo from this range called Night Desire and the silver in it is more white and ashy while this one is silver enough to highlight and yet never looks chalky. But the purple needs a lot more swipes to show up. They don’t deliver much when used dry but once you use them wet, you start falling for them.
The texture is smooth and glides on easily. The sponge applicator catches enough colour to deposit on your eyes (I always vouch for sponge applicators….never like those flat brushes). With a good base, they can last for 6hrs easily but without a proper base they can only manage 3hrs. But there are some fall out issues and they start creasing easily. I only recommend them using wet and with a good base. When used wet, they look more lively and pigmented along with minimal fall out.
Let’s look at the photos and swatches:
Lakme Absolute Baked Eyeshadows Night Flash
I’ve swatched them dry here – 2 swipes
Here I’ve used the silver on the lid and purple in the crease and outer corners
I’ve used them dry here. Pics taken when it was almost gone
Price: Rs.595
So is it for you? The colour combination is pretty but the quality isn’t much to boast about. The eyeshadows don’t deliver when used dry so they have to be used wet. They crease easily and have some fall out too. So a good base is recommended. Its an average product for the price you have to pay.
Product sent by the brand for consideration
Wow fab pics….Pigmentation has always been a issue with baked e/s!
loved ur eotd :) but i would rather skip these! great review:)
I don’t know why, but that purple scares me! :O
Nice review, but dont you think its slightly over priced?
I bought By Marcel Make-up Palette from oriflame and it consists of more eye shadows with some blush ons as well.. I was also taken aback with the quality of the product at such a low price..
i like to try one soon :)
