There is this famous dialogue from the hindi film Guru, “jab log tumhare barein mei baatei karni shuru kar de, samajh lo tum tarakki kar rhe ho” (when people start talking about you, you are on your way to success). So when recently I had my first experience with plagiarism, after the initial anger I felt good! The regular readers must know that I’m a beauty and fashion contributor at Sulekha’s woman portal and I don’t post the articles here on my blog which I write for them. So the story goes that one smart girl copied one whole article I wrote there and guest blogged about it on some blog. When the post appeared on my dashboard (with the same pictures..yes the girl didn’t even bother changing the pictures! You do need brains even to copy stuff, right?) I was shocked. Luckily the blogger she guest blogged for was in my facebook list and I immediately told her about it. The post was later removed from the blog but that got me thinking. What can we as bloggers do to save our work from being plagiarised? In the mean time, let’s talk about a lipstick which was one of my most requested lipsticks since I featured it in my November Favourite products

It Says: For a rich lip colour with a creamy shine, the Velvett Matte Lipstick, available in 45 stunning shades infuse the lips with vibrancy. Its unique 2-in-1 formulation gives the lips a creamy, yet matte finish. A one of a kind product in India, it has super softening agents that give the lips a soft and supple appearance while keep them nourished with Vitamin E. Staying on up to 5 hours on application, the Velvett Matte Lipstick can be further accentuated with lip gloss and lip liner.

The colour: Its a blend of peach, brown and pink. More brown and less pink. You cannot find true shades in the online swatches so I played a gamble when I went for this shade and I’m so glad I did! It is my FAVOURITE my-lips-but-better shade till date. It has beaten the cult favourite My Mahogany from Maybelline Color Sensational range. The thing with My Mahogany is that it doesn’t work on pigmented lips but this one gives a rich opaque colour in one single swipe. It works well on pigmented lips and would look good on just about every skin tone.
Even though it is matte, it glides on smoothly and does not dry my lips. And it has a good lasting power. Even with your meals, it can last a good 3-4 hours, which is absolutely great. They are available in 45 shades(yes!) and all of them have this silver glass packaging with the colour at the bottom to differentiate the lipsticks.
Okay it smells like caramel or may be coconut. Or is it vanilla? I don’t know but it IS strong. Why? Because I generally can’t detect any smell in my cosmetics but I can feel the vanilla like smell when it is on my lips. And I don’t really dig it.

These are some great quality lipsticks and at this price, you better not miss them. There are a total of 45 shades and there a lot of pinks, nudes and browns. I’ve already reviewed Naked Pink from this range which is a soft earthy pink colour.
Price: Rs.225 ($5)
Availability: www.colorbarcosmetics.com , www.urbantouch.com , www.makeupshades.com
So is it for you? Yes if you are looking for a nice mlbb shade which gives rich colour, stays on longer and is not drying like other matte lipsticks. These are some great quality lipsticks India has and I’m now feeling patriotic!
PS- To all those who cut-copy-paste, its a small world and you always find out the source…just like I did!
