Maybelline Color Sensational Lipstick My Mahogany – Review, Photos & Swatches

Once upon a time…this little girl used to live in a no makeup world. No blogs. No reviews. But always prayed for natural nude lips. One sudden night, she decided to search the internet for the lipsticks Jolie wear and there was no looking back. It was around that time when this range was introduced last year and all international bloggers were raving about it. That’s how she was introduced to the beautiful pink world of beauty blogging. Needless to say, THIS was her first perfect lipstick after the disaster. She doesn’t claims she found the lippie AJ wears (or may be she did!).

You all know the hype around Maybelline Color Sensational range. I wonder how I never reviewed them here. Since you can see the quantity left, I thought I would better hurry up.

The Colour: It is a universally flattering nudish light brown shade. It’s the kind of shade you can wear to schools, college, office, etc. Once on your lips, it doesn’t look like you are wearing an obvious lipstick, may be that’s why everybody calls it a great MLBB (my lips but better) shade, specially on Indian tones. So, you can guess I started off with this shade only. You can pair it with smokey eyes for great nude lips. It looks very polished and natural on the lips.

It has nice pigmentation but will not give you an opaque look nor will it cover your lip pigmentation completely. So, you better dab some concealer on them before wearing it.
It is a very popular shade from this range, and now you know why…its just so pretty and natural. The lipstick will never dry your lips and has this faint caramel smell but not over-powering. It lasts on me for about 2-3 hours (like most of my other lippies) and fades away completely after that. Not a great fan of lasting power, its a wee bit buttery (not creamy) and tends to settle into the fine lines of my lips.

Its difficult to find such nice lipsticks at this range, so do get one if you haven’t already. There are about 32 shades in this range with pinks, browns, reds and mauves for almost everyone.

Here is how it looks on me:

You see how it makes my lips look polished and natural?
I think if you have very pigmented lips then it may not suit you but otherwise it is a great MLBB shade for almost everyone!

Price: Rs.299

So is it for you? Yes yes yes if you would like a natural, muted lipstick for everyday wear for those no-makeup looks. I already have a back up of this shade! Girls who are not comfortable with the idea of wearing a lipstick or those with only tinted balms in their stash can definitely try this one out!

  10. Excellent read, I just passed this onto a friend who was doing a little research on that. And he actually bought me lunch since I found it for him smile Thus let me rephrase that: Thanks for lunch! “How beautiful maleness is, if it finds its right expression.” by D. H. Lawrence.

  12. Hey there just wanted to give you a quick heads up. The words in your article seem to be running off the screen in Firefox. I’m not sure if this is a format issue or something to do with browser compatibility but I thought I’d post to let you know. The design look great though! Hope you get the problem fixed soon. Kudos
