Just when I thought L’Oreal had me with their La Vie Rose Pink collection, they launch another one! This time its the iCannes collection just in time for the Cannes Film Festival 2016. VNA covered the entire cannes makeup collection last year and this year is no different. This year’s Cannes collection includes the Mega infallible lip glosses, Infallible 24hr Liquid Foundation, Infallible compact Powder, Infallible Lipsticks, Infallible Lip Liners and Silkissisme Eye Liners. Most of these already have detailed reviews and swatches on VNA and today I’m going to add one more to it – the new loreal mega lip glosses. I have all the 11 shades that launched in India.
This loreal paris lip gloss range has eleven shades in the offering, and you will never ever find a dull moment while trying this range. Every year, L’oreal launches new products which redefine fashion and make up trends. This year, they decided to take a leap forward and launch an entire range of lip glosses known as Infallible Mega Glosses. What does a makeup enthusiast need? Or what does a woman using lipsticks every day need? Something which does not fall, quite literally! Or something which does not spill, smudge or melt. Priced at Rs. 850 for 8 ml, this range is available in Cream, Xtreme Resist and Dazzle finish. No prizes for guessing that Cream look is Matte’s first cousin and Dazzle means sheen or gloss appeal. Xtreme Resist has more neutral shades.
My Review of L’Oreal Infallible Mega Lip Gloss Range:
Packaging: Transparent, slim, tiny tubes with black caps with super soft applicators. As I said before, they look really cute. Almost like the cutest army ever! The wand or the applicator of these loreal lip glosses is a little innovative. It is slightly bent and the bottom side works well on the lower lip and the upper side works on the upper lip. Try it out! The Applicator, is quite decent, and reminds me of YSL products. Fun, easy, hassle free, just how I like boys to be.
Pigmentation & Texture: Coming To the basics, all the colors differ in terms of appearance and texture. Making my point clearer is the fact that the three ranges- Xtreme Resist, Cream and Dazzle have been created and developed keeping various occasions in mind. The Three variants- Xtreme Resist, Dazzle and Cream all have different levels of pigmentation and texture.
L’oreal Dazzle range is high on shimmer. These lip shades are very glossy and shimmery. They also make your lips look extremely plump because of the high gloss shine. Apty named, they truly dazzle!
L’Oreal Xtreme Resist shades are slightly less on shimmer, so you can accentuate the look of any other lighter shade by applying this one over it. They are a cross between dazzle and cream shades. Xtreme Resist range makes me feel like I have applied a good quality lip balm. These lip glosses will work well for girls with non pigmented lips or those who like a shimmery lip every now and then.
L’Oreal Cream range is your perfect companion for office and every day routine. It has no shimmer and quite pigmented and hence these lip glosses from loreal paris can replace your lipsticks. Cream is for the perfect creamy finish and non fussy shades. If you like your lip glosses to be full of colour then this is the range for you.
With regards to pigmentation, all the three ranges have good amount of pigmentation barring a few lighter shades. All the shades have different fragrances. To conclude:
The Cream range is super pigmented, non shimmery and highly opaque.
The Xtreme Resist is a cross between dazzle and cream.
Dazzle range is high on shimmer and pigmentation.
The texture is very smooth and opaque. You do not need to dip the applicator again in the tube as its very thick. But it does not feel odd or heavy.
Quality: If not better, it is as good as Mac and YSL lip glosses. The darker lip gloss shades leave a light tint after fading off, and the lighter lip gloss shades don’t leave a tint but they do leave shimmer behind. The texture is extremely hydrating and you can skip your lip balms with these.
Fragrance: The three mega gloss ranges have three distinct fragrances: Sweet Praline, Powder Fresh and Disco Fruit for Cream, Xtreme Resist and Dazzle respectively. Its a little strong but I personally love that because its not chemically.
L’Oreal Paris Infallible Mega Gloss Swatches:
from left to right
202 Gloss Me I’m Gorgeous (Dazzle)
It is a deep plum shade with shimmer. Very glossy. Perfect for deeper Indian skin tones.
210 Disco Ball (Dazzle)
It is a light nude shade with champagne shimmer. It is perfect to pair with matte lipatick that wash you out or don’t look flattering on their own.
208 Flash Dance (Dazzle)
It is a warm brick brown shade. Again a shade meant for darker Indian skin tones.
503 All Night Long (Xtreme Resist)
It is a warm brown coral shade with golden shimmer. Less shimmery and glossy than the dazzle glosses.
504 My Sky Is The Limit (Xtreme Resist)
It is a bright pink shade perfect for fair Indian skin tones.
110 I Got The Power (Cream)
It is a nude brown shade. If you are obsessed with Kylie glosses then this nude shade can match them. Very beautiful on our warm Indian skin. And my favourite shade from the entire range.
103 Protest Queen (Cream)
It is a milky beige color. This shade will wash us Indian girls out but if you are into such pale milky shades then try layering it over a deeper lipstick.
109 Fight for It (Cream)
It is a blue based pink shade which most teenage girls will like. I used to love such cute bright pink shades in college!
104 Mafia Gloss (Cream)
It is a bright fuchsia shade and a slightly deeper version of Fight for It. Its great for medium to deeper Indian skin tones. I can see myself carrying it in the mornings to look fresh and warm. And my favourite name for a lip gloss!
106 Alerte Rouge (Cream)
It is a deep warm red with amazing pigmentation. Looks almost like a liquid lipstick. Very bold and perfect for night outs. A good choice for medium to deeper Indian skin tones.
107 Who’s the Boss (Cream)
It is a deep plum shade which reminds me of MAC Rebel and I’m convinced they are dupes. Great pigmentation and colour choice for tan olive Indian skin tones. And what a name!
Pros of L’Oreal Paris Infallible Mega Gloss:
Well pigmented shades.
The shimmer present is intelligent in absolute sense. It spreads out evenly, covers the nook and corner of your lips, without being over the top anywhere.
It is sticky without being sticky! The shades will cling onto your lips for five to six hours. If you drink coffee, it will still stay intact to a great extent.
Innovative applicator which works really well on thin lips too.
The fruity fragrances. I just have one word for it – fun.
I love the names – Who’s The Boss, Protest Queen and Never Let Me Go, doesn’t it sound musical?
Cons of L’Oreal Paris Infallible Mega Gloss:
Could they price them a bit cheaper? May be? Maybe because I am worth it?
Wont survive meals. But then which lip gloss does.
Price in India: Rs.850
VNA Rating: 4/5
Will I Recommend This Range? Sure! I want to buy I got the Power again, but the present collection is going to last me for the year. By next Cannes, they will already have something equally tempting!
